There are many great used book stores that I have used over the years. One of my favorites is Book Market; not only do they have cheap books, but they have a 4 for 3 special and a 10% coupon for book lovers. I used to buy from Chapters a lot but when you like to buy a lot of books, it's not worth it to spend so much money on one book, when you can buy more for the same price. Other sites are:
- Cheap Thrills although it is more about music than books.
- Better World Books: It's an online site where the books are relatively cheap, most have free shipping, and best of all, when you buy a book, another book is donated to someone in need.
- The Used Book Circle: On this site, you can fill out an "order form" where you list what book you want, what format, and different used book stores might answer you, in your region, with the locations and price for the book you want.
- Your local Library: They have many books and if they do not have it, many libraries have an inter-library loan system from which they can get books for you from around the province or even around the county. I love to read books more than once, and I love how some catalog systems allows users to keep a history of the books they borrowed. For those who do not read books more than once, BORROW THEM, buying them is keeping them from the rest of us ;) As well, some libraries give free membership for students.
For other sites, I found this blog, The Blork Blog that mentions a couple of stores around Montreal. If you live outside of Montreal, just use Google to search different locations of used book stores in your area

For some of my summaries, I had the help of Chapters and Amazon when I had trouble recalling some parts of the books.
How to get a child to read?
Some children just love to read, while others hate it. It is very hard to get a child to learn to read, but there are some helpful tips that I could give you that, in past experience, have worked. If a child likes to read a certain type of book, for example Fantasy, do not chastise them for that choice, they may decide not reading is better than getting chastised again. I would also like to emphasize that no book is to easy or too hard for a certain age group; some children are slower or more advanced than others of their age group. If older children are happy reading easier books, but made to feel embarrassed of their reading level, they may decide to stop. If, on the other hand, they are allowed to read easier books, they may get better as they get older and read more advanced books. Even if they do not, they can still have fun reading! Also, thanks to new technologies, there are many games that children can play that incorporate reading and online sites where children can read books. Ask your local librarian if you're subscribed to one of these such sites, or you can try out a free trial.
